I hear ya! While my mom acknowledged my Masters and PhD, no one else in my family did. And I have three siblings! I know they knew about it, because I emailed them when I turned my dissertation in. Maybe they thought I was bragging? I was just so relieved, though, I had to announce it. I didn't mean to be saying I was better than them or anything. I thought they'd be happy for me! And I got nada from any of them, to this day (7 years later).
And the real kick was when my sister got her Master's degree, everyone made a big deal. That was *after* all of my grad school. It steams me even thinking about it now.
So, I think it's *great* that you have a Master's degree, and that you passed your CCE! And I'm not just saying that to be supportive. It's a ton of work, and takes a lot of persistence and smarts and strength. When you turn in your dissertation, we'll have a big babble party to celebrate. Yahoo for GG!
