That's the wonderful thing about the future. The possibility is there to do good or to do evil. It's up to you to make the choice. Each day you make the choice.

And I still say the past doesn't matter all that much. No one is past redemption. After all, it is over. You can't do anything differently. You can choose to make amends to anyone you've hurt. You can choose to do differently in the future. You can squarely face any consequences to your past actions. But once you've done all that, there's no point in beating yourself up over it anymore.

I do think you have to take your personality into account when you try to decide who you'd like to be. After all, we're born with our temperaments. And being highly emotional isn't inherently bad. Difficult for you maybe, but not bad. But given your basic temperament, what would you like to be? What would you like people to say about you when you're not around? What choices would you like to make? Have you looked into rational emotive therapy? I may have the name wrong, but it talks about how all of life is choices.

Darned annoying isn't it? :)
