Oh, Holy Basil is a very good herb, even for children. It does seem to help with the emotions on a subtle level. I use it myself. I've found that taking breaks from it work better for me than taking it everyday for long periods. Maybe taking it 4 days a week and 3 days off would be enough. That's what I'm trying to do with it right now.
I do watch television, a little. But I never watch the news, just movies. I don't like the news programs either. They are so critical and negative. They make depressed people feel worse, and I do believe they instill fear in us so that we start walking around feeling paranoid. That's no way to live. It's garbage!! Besides, the news is mostly opinions, and you know what they say about opinions.
Anyway, keep doing what you're doing. You will find answers. Life will be more fulfilling for you. I think you're on the right track, and I may read some of those books too. The thing that helped me was to study the Tao Te Ching, a Chinese philosophy. It is a philosophy that is so different from the way we live as Americans. Most people wouldn't know what to make of it. It would seem so foreign to them, but I have found some comfort from studying it. I'm not saying I live by it everyday, but in really stressful times in my life, it has helped me to be more patient with people and to allow changes to happen naturally, and not to be so critical of those changes. Anyway, whatever helps, right??Stay Well.
