Yeah, I've noticed this side effect. I got it when I first started and it took a few weeks for it to go away. I don't know why it went away for me, but it did. I take 25mg per night. If I go up to 50mg per night, like I'm allowed to do for extreme situations where I just can't sleep I do have a hangover the next day where I feel dopey all morning long, no matter how much coffee I try (and I'm not supposed to drink it at all.)
I've had chronic insomnia since I was about 2 years old. I'm not joking. My Dad was a terrible insomniac. He would only get about 3 hours of sleep at night and not all at once. I had a sleep test and found out that I was getting only 3.5 hours of sleep per night and not all at once. The Trazodone is the only medicine that's really helped long-term. Ambien poops out if I use it too much. It's still good in a pinch and I'll cut my 10mg tablets down to 5mg if I feel like even the 50mg dose of Trazodone won't work. I do risk some fogginess the next day. Sometimes it's worth it so I can stay on my sleep schedule. Sometimes it ruins most of the day.
I hope things get better for you. I don't know what dose you're on. I think I've found a "sweet spot" for me at 25mg per night for most nights. I find that if I go over that, I'm going to have the symptoms you describe, no doubt about it.
