I would say that, in general, a reversible MAOI like moclobemide is less effective than an irreversible one like Nardil. Roche could not assemble data to pursuade the US FDA to approve it for depression or social anxiety / phobia.
Just so you can say "I tried it", it might not be so bad to give moclobemide a try and see for yourself. Be prepared, though, to need to increase the dosage week after week to maintain a positive therapeutic effect. Some people start off feeling improved during the first week and at a dosage of 300 mg/day. By the time they have exhausted the potential of this drug, they end up at 1200mg. This drug can make you feel very good at first. Just be certain that you understand that your results with moclobemide do not in any way indicate what your results would be with Nardil, Parnate, or Marplan.
