I find that when my xanax serum levels are quickly increased, I get depressed. This has happened to me many times, both as a result of upping the dose quite a bit for a number of days, or adding a 3A4 inhibitor.
This isn't the normal experience with xanax. But any benzo can cause depression; this is known both anecdotally and by consideration of their mechanism of action.
