You love Paul Simon and Tori too? I'm straight, but but... well, will you marry me? hehehe

I had to post that pic of the tree- that's just so cool.

195- haha, that's a Massachusetts highway, you can see that I have my head in the clouds most of the time. It's nice up in the clouds ;)

Is there anyway I could see your film?? What's it about? I wish I was making movies!

> Hey, don't go giving out information on my hometown now. We like to stay a small community and don't welcome outsiders!
> I actually live in Muncie Indiana now (panic attack, is my therapist reading this????) where Letterman went to school, attending the same tcom program he attended. It has a good reputation, or so I'm told. I haven't seen anything good going on yet. Well, I did work on a film last summer, so I guess I would be lying if I said nothing good happened but it was really low budget and didn't go very far at all...
>
> And I believe Letterman wanted I465 named after him, not 195. You need to brush up on your Indiana road names. Sheesh! :) Yeah, that didn't pan out too well though.
> He's still fighting to get the Ball State University Football Stadium named after him. I say, "Why the he** not?" This is Muncie!
>
> I used to see shows more frequently. I've seen G-Love, Tori, Paul Simon and Ween were my personal favs! I don't really get around to seeing many shows anymore. I wish I did, but since I moved out of Bloomington, bands don't come around Muncie and my boyfriend works often.

I might marry you, but I'm pretty superficial so it depends on what you look like, your family history, how much money you make, ect, ect.... But, I don't turn down any marriage proposal without giving it serious consideration. Now, don't you wish you could take it back???

Yes, I am SOOO in love with Mr. Paul Simon. And Miss Tori, she's married you know, well she's just wonderful...But, I have this thing for balding short men. I don't get it??

I don't have a copy of the film. I was the sound tech. I only got involved as I went to school (my first University) with one of the producers. I got lucky on that one :) It's not what you do my friend but who you know. Funny, but I beat her out as director of the newscast at the first university. I'm rather surprised she put in a good word for me. I guess people, other than me, don't hold grudges... Go figure :)

OK- I'm 5'10" Dark blonde, 145lbs (I happen to like my curves very much thank you ;)). I work for a top computer company, so I can support you. My family is half Swedish and half Italian- so we have either dark-eyed/dark haried beauties or tall blond blue-eyed skinnies (I got a little of both, and I'm glad for my Italian body, damnit. Even though it would be cool to look like th eswedish bikini team). My family is a zoo, always amusing- constant humor, all the time. hehehe

anyways- I'd jump in the sack with Mr. Simon... how could you not??

I bet you she put in a good word beacuse she realized that you were the right person. You must be very good.

Buffett rules! But seriously, I'm a big fan of Elaine Aron. I am currently reading "The Highly Sensitive Person: How to Thrive When the World Overwhelms You" It often feels like the story of "me" as I am an EXTREMELY sensitive person. (feeling excessively sensitive at the moment, but that's another story).

Have you had the same feeling of resonating with Aron's theory? If so, seems like we have even more in common. That's cool (oops, there goes the 80's in me.)

Take care,
gg

Hey, gardenergirl. Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier - don't know how I missed it. Sorry : (

I actually haven't read "The Highly Sensitive Person". I've been desperately trying to decide what to do about my career since I'm very unhappy at my job and with what I'm doing. My girlfriend and I were in a bookstore, talking about the oh so light topic of what we want to do with our lives and she picked up "Making Work Work for the Highly Sensitive Person" for me. At a quick glance, it seemed to be "right" for me and now, as I'm reading it, I'm really thinking I should purchase Elaine Aron's book. And if my best friend's perception is that I'm an HSP, odds are there's at least a grain of truth to it, huh?

Obviously, you liked Aron's book. Can you tell me what the highlights were? Will I get a lot out of it?

Thanks!
All Done

What I liked about the book is that it takes the idea of HSP and makes it a strength and a gift rather than a weakness, as the rest of the world seems to view it.

Also, if you think about what it is like to react to stimuli faster, more often, and more intensely than 80% of the population, it makes sense that everyday life can be overstimulating. I find that there are many times when I just need to be alone and quiet. It's not withdrawal or avoidance, I just need less stimulation. But the rest of the people wonder what's wrong with you, because they are not overstim'd.

That's the general idea. She takes various aspects, like how did you get this way, how do others react, how does it affect life, love, work, etc. She gives lots of case examples and ways to cope. She gives ways to embrace this aspect of ourself.

I have gotten a lot out of it. It makes me feel better about myself and it helps me understand puzzling things. Like why is the TV volume making me so agitated? etc. Why do I always feel like I need a "mental health" day, even after a weekend (answer: my husband is home and I need time truly to be alone.)

I haven't even made it all the way through the book as I tend to read a bit and then reflect for awhile. I also return to chapters again and again.

So, if the idea of being HSP seems right to you, and the work book is too focused, you may get a lot out of the more general one.

By the way, did you know that presidential candidate Wesley Clark's favorite band is Journey? I can't decide if that makes me like him more or worry about him. Tee hee.

Take care,
gg

Wow – that is exactly me. My husband travels a bit for work and while sometimes I hate to admit it, I so look forward to some of those days (especially the time after my son is in bed each night). I’ve always said that I “need” time to myself even if I’m doing nothing. And don’t tell my boss, but I just took a mental health day this week. Although it didn’t help much. I feel like I need another.

And please don’t get me started on the TV volume. I should have listed this as my biggest pet peeve. I swore growing up that my sisters were deaf. It always seemed they had the volume up way too high. Thankfully, when my husband wants to watch something important (i.e. sports) he can watch it in the basement and he doesn’t have to worry about me telling him to turn it down.

Anyway, thanks for the response. I think I’ll get the general book and I should probably even read that one before the work one. I think it will help me to understand where they’re coming from a little more.

--Ugh! Journey is his favorite band? Hmm, I’ll have to add that to my list of tidbits to remember while choosing my favorite candidate. Unfortunately for Mr. Clark, my ex-husband absolutely loved Journey. I heard way too much of them during some tumultuous years. Now, if he would have said The Pet Shop Boys, that’s another story altogether… ; )

No need to fret, Karen. That's exactly what I'm saying. Because of my pathetic excuse of an ex-husband, I heard *way* too much Journey during my awful adolescent years. I absolutely can't stand to hear them anymore! So there will be no need to disqualify me for this one. Though, I know you're just looking for a reason since you know I'm the toughest comptetition you've had since Miss Honey! : )

I'm right there with you on this. My sister was/is a HUGE fan, and I can't stand hearing it. Just was thinking, what does it say about a man/politician if he was willing to admit to this little "flaw"?

BTW, I have you all beat in the pageant as I used to be a Clinique girl. It's all about the makeup ladies. Excema (refer to another thread), bring it on! I can cover it. Or make it into a lovely pattern. :) Maybe that can be my talent???

But, I have to go with Estee Lauder on the foundation and eye shadow....Is this getting too girlie???? Oh, I just love being a woman!!!! No discount. I can't even get free shipping from my old store anymore. (sigh)

>Is this getting too girlie???? Oh, I just love being a woman!!!! Is it strange that I memorize the type and shade of makeup I wear??? I think I may just have a problem..

Not too girlie. And of course you know what shades you wear. Otherwise, how could you replace it?

It's getting to be gift time. Yeah, time to stock up. I sure hope that the rash thing by my eye (see other posts about excema) isn't from any of my product-queen supply. I'd hate to give up my All About Eyes!

You bet that's a success! Way to go! I can tell from your post how important family is to you. I admire that.

Interesting note: I used to live in Bloomington IN where John Mellencamp lives now. But he's a real butt. Did you know that? He rides around town sometimes in his limo, when he goes out on the river in his boat and buys cigarettes (from my friend no less) he's very rude. He actually went up to the counter and said "Gimme a pack of smokes." My friend was like, "Well, what kind would you like?" Johny boy was like, "Just gimme the blasted smokes." He finally laid an old pack down so my friend could match them up. Also, he doesn't tip well and treats servers like crap. Guess he likes living in a small town, but treats people like pooh!
I also went to a university that he used to attend. I'm full of gossip, you know??? I heard he set one of the dorms on fire, but I doubt it. He did offer to give a free concert there once, but the university wouldn't allow him to. I wonder why? Some of my old profs still remember him and said they didn't like him because he had a bad attitude.
I do like some of his music though :) I could just do without ever seeing his limo when I go back through Bloomington. My boyfriend and friends used to race that limo when we pulled up next to it in town :) We're funny like that...

Lake, I meant... Lake Monroe! Not river. So, minor geographical error. Pardon me :)

Yes, family is something I wanted badly when I fell in love with my husband when we were 17. 17!! I had planned on an exciting college education, lots of men, an exciting career as an anthropologist...and then BAM. Love came along and I knew this man was a good one. Pretty wise for 17, aye?

Oh, he just went down several notches in my book. Now I'll have to rank James Taylor or perhaps Tom Petty as best concert. Bob Dylan would make it, if only he didn't sing!
