> omg.. Great thread. I've always wondered about disability because I can't hold a job for the LIFE of me. I have anxiety/panic disorder and possibly bipolar but not yet diagnosed.
> Must you have insurance to obtain disability? I read that you must see a doctor once a month or something, but I am always at the local crisis unit in the hospital. Not a personal doctor, but it is a doctor ya know? I can't obtain Medicaid because I don't have children.

The first step is to go to your nearest social security office and apply. There will be forms to fill out and they will send you to be evaluated by a psychologist of their choosing. They will ask for your medical records, etc. Then you wait. Don't be discouraged if they turn you down at first. You just get a lawyer and keep on trying. You will have to keep records of doctor visits and medications you are on. You have to have not worked for at least six months before you can apply.

Hope this helps,
