I love where I live because, even though its right on a subway line, I am surrounded on all sides by trees. From May through October, I can look out any window and watch leaves sway in the wind. Also, I never before had an apartment with windows on all sides. For years, I lived in an apartment that had only north-south exposures. The front rooms had north exposures, so were dark all day. Now I have light from the east, west and south. It's great.
I've lived here for three years and gave up a lot in convenience to stores and stuff to live here. But I can still get into the city quickly on the subway, so it's good. My last place was so dark and just looked out onto other apartments. I didn't like being there at all during the day and I work at home a lot. But it was convenient to everything, so I'd take my computer to a coffee shop or park and work there.
I need three bedrooms. One for me, one for my husband (who snores so badly I can't share a bed with him) and one for my daughter when she's home or other visitors.
My new place has a balcony. I never had one before and it's great in the warm weather.
