Shall we trade mothers for a bit? Mine doesn't give a toss, really and truly, whether I live or want to die, yet says she gives herself ER-caliber migraines worrying about her children.
Oh, and I would love if you would have a few words with my step daughter's BF, as all he's done in the past week is leave increasingly profane voicemails on my hubby's cell phone telling him what a horrible family we are and how we wouldn't want to marry into such a rotten bunch of people. (And I'm supposed to like this guy because he's so nice to my step daughter? Uh, how about NOT. He makes my skin crawl and I know for certain that the feeling is mutual. We have saved that voicemail, where he outlined his particular feelings towards me, as a reminder to us all of the strength and utter venom of his words. The step daughter is mortified that we'll actually play it at some point.)
I tell ya, families are a pain - and to see our children being parented by others makes US into children all over again. It hurts, it makes it hurt all over again. So my therapist so sagely told me today. My pain is her pain is my pain. Oi.
