Believe it or not I started with that job because I thought that it didn't have any negative connotations that could offend someone. My mistake. I was envisioning the waitresses at one specific bar and I didn't think of it as demeaning them. Cocktail isn't a word ever heard there. I hope they make what you do - they certainly earn it - but I really doubt it. And they have to be nice to people who don't deserve it, not let their personal problems show at work, and they have to deal with not being in complete control of everyone around them all the time while not getting out of control themselves. And that last is the part that I think would particularly trip up some doctors.
But - the money's too good. With the rise of the HMO's it might even be a raise for some doctors so I think we should agree that they cannot be Las Vegas cocktail waitresses unless they've been very good doctors. I still think a stint at my neighborhood bar would be good for some of the bad ones - although it really wouldn't be fair to my friends there. Or to the people who drink there either.
Seriously. It's not meant to be about the jobs themselves. I was thinking about which jobs would be most unsuited to certain obnoxious personality types. Besides the job of doctor which we already know that they are unsuited for.
