I can't imagine my therapist ever saying that to me. Of course, he knows I wouldn't like it at all. He's respectful to me always.

At most he might ask if it would be helpful for me to have my rational self more there. If I said no, he'd accept that.

Because I suppose sometimes it is more helpful to me. But if that's not who's having a problem, why would it help to talk to that part of me? I think you need to address the problem at its source.
