I sleep a lot too. My escape is sleep. I'm hoping to try Emsam some day since it's recommended for atypical depression.
But back to dreams. Have you tried the brain supplements like gingko, 5htp, S-ame, and PS? S-ame is powerful stuff and the promise of a fitful night, in and out of dreams for me. The last time I woke up *paralyzed* half awake, half alseep, I had taken a hefty dose of S-ame. I couldn't move, and my teeth were clenched so hard my jaw hurt the next day.
Although I had a bad experience with S-ame, your's could be positive. There's bound to be something that will help you recall dreams.
I've tried just about everything at iamshaman.com and came away mostly disappointed. I remember Daggia, which is supposed to be a legal pot subsitute, was pure junk. The different lotuses had potential but only when smoked. Kanna and Kratom were awful. $20.00 worth of Kanna gave me a brief buzz and Kratom left me with a 3-day headache, nausea, and vertigo. Some of this stuff is just poisonous.
Calamus Root is supposed to give one visions and aid in sleep. I could tell it stimulated the brain and eyes; too much and I felt pressure in the head. Anyway nothing remarkable to report but some people like to take it when they meditate.
You might widen your search to include the "visionary" herbs. A good reference book I keep handy is, "The Yoga of Herbs".
