Clinically (not theoretically), I think it makes sense to discontinue desipramine - even if only briefly - in order to be certain that it is not exacerbating your withdrawal syndrome. If your doctor has already worked with the abrupt cross-over of these two drugs, perhaps he is sure of himself. You can always restart the desipramine at any time. You need to be sure that it is not making the withdrawal symptom worse, extending them in time, or triggering a manic reaction.

Friends,
Be not deceived. Scott has given medical advice in the form of making a medical claim to suggest that the poster modify the drugging that the doctor has prescribed to the poster here. This goes against the prescribing doctor which could lead to the poster not having confidence in what the doctor is doing to her here. this could lead to her death.
You see, there is a huge body of evidence to show that modifying these drugs while in treatment could lead to death. Scott, representing himself as some type of authority here, could cause your death. And worse, Mr. Hsiung is allowing him to seriously mislead you to think that what he posts is supportive by him, a psychiatrist that is allowing hate to be seen as being supportive. Do you want to be swayed by the orchestration by Mr. Hsiung allowing Scott to give quasi medical advice here? Does his contradicting the prescribing doctor actually indicate that the doctor is a quack? and then, following that, could also all psychiatrists be quacks? And could not Scott then be determined to be a quack?
Lou
