Western Industrial Military Complex--sell, sell, sell. A pill for everything. Consumers are infantilized.
And then again, some of us are alive or relatively free from pain because of medical intervention.
Of course, the metaphor 'infantilze' connotes a mother. In this case, a bad mother. Maybe think about choosing another? What others are available? Be creative, be proactive. Catholics have good mother figures available. Other cultures do, too.
Go against the cultural grain--help others, help other species, seek out good medicine--it's there.
