Good point, I agree we are too linked in to taking medicine and not accepting the variability that comes from being human. I think society has imposed its own standards for how we should behave and feel.

The only value today seems to be that where you make lots of money and this can make anyone else feel that they do not measure up, even though they have talents in other, less lucrative areas.

We have gotten so materialistic that we think happiness and a purpose in life can be bought for a price, including the search for the elusive med that will solve all of our problems.

I just think some people are born with traits that allow them to be more focused or happy or outgoing and the rest of us, have different temperments or traits that are seen as less desirable by society.

I focus on that and how different I am from "successful" people and never measure up to those standards. I try not to go there with my thinking, as I know it keeps me in a vicious circle of negative thinking, i.e. depression.

The pursuit of medication becomes like a full time job (if you have enough time,i.e. disabled or unemployed) as you have to spend an inordinate amount of time to research meds, doctors and this website and others.

I used to think that if I spent enough time looking for answers, I would eventually get "there"...now after 30 years, I'm not so sure.

When I was working a 60 hour week, my depression had no time to exist and although I'm sure it was hovering in the background, it was not affecting my ability to work. So being unemployed takes me right back there again, not a good solution to lifelong depression.

And yes, the drug companies are getting very rich off of us by coming out with "newer" and "better" meds that after all is said and done, do not make a whole hell of difference, or do they????

I would just like to know who with TRD (my dx) has really gone on to long term success on meds.

Not looking for any consensus here, just stating my opinion and thoughts today based on my experiences.
