Just as a musing thought, have you tried Cymbalta? It's good for pain, as many here will attest, and might help with both the depression and some of the physical symptoms.

Also, I have nerve damage from a car accident, too. One leg has large areas that I can't feel particularly well. My trainer used to move both my legs where she wanted them, and the damaged leg would just stay. The other leg, though, I'd yell as she pulled it where she wanted it and then it would move back as soon as I started riding again! At this point, I'm so used to the problem that it really isn't a problem. I guess what I'm saying is that it doesn't stay such a problem after a while.
