My experience and the small amount of research I did when starting Wellbutrin seem to indicate that WB kicks in more quickly than other ADs. For me, by day 10 on it, I was singing while cooking breakfast, pretty much a sure sign an AD is working. (Pity my husband -- I can sing in multiple wrong keys at once, and can't carry a tune if you put a handle on it and handcuff it to my wrist.) As I remember, I was on 150mg for one week, then 300mg for a couple of days. This was Wellbutrin XL, by the way. And I was already on Cymbalta, so the WB was for augmentation since that wasn't doing the job.

It sounds as though you're in a lot of pain right now, and it must be hard to think about hanging in for a while longer to see if it kicks in. I guess my advice, based only on my own experiences with starting meds, is to see if you can stick it out for another couple of weeks, but call your pdoc today to discuss this and see about getting a quick appointment for evaluating whether it's worth continuing this trial.

Wellbutrin XL is my friend, and I hope that it will turn out to be your friend, too. If not, though, I hope that something more successful is substituted for you soonest.
