Hey Donna, sorry things are so bad for you right now..... couple of things
SEVERE ANXIETY!!!!!
NOT BI-POLAR (IMO)
I think that you are like a lot of people with severe anxiety, you catastrophosize (sp) I know it is hard not to !! The ordering things over the phone in my opinion might sound manic but in reality I think it is your best attempt to calm down your hyper agitated -thought processes and divert your attention away from your anxiety.
The mere fact that you are scared to take the beta-blocker is an anxious reaction to ...'what if'..... I take this and it makes me feel worse....I know! I have been there. Also while remeron is effective for a small minority of people It really is not that effective for panic and generalized anxiety (which sounds like you have)I know you have not had a good reaction to the ssri's and snri's but keep this in mind....Many if not most of the AD meds that are utililized for mood and anxiety disorders will, in and of them selves most likely cause some "extra anxiety" when you initially start them up but once your body and brain adapt, things usually mellow out. My suggestion would be to maybe try the following. Get to your psychiatrist as soon as possible (I know and am very sorry that mental health resources over there in the UK , are not the best)...then tell your doc you absolutely must get your anxiety under control. Perhaps trying an ssri, properly dosed (carefully up) along with a therapuetic amt of valium, and use the beta blocker for the physical symptoms of the anxiety until you can reach an effective dose of an ssri-it may take several weeks to do this but I beleive that it will be well worth your time. Also as your going on an ssri I would see no problem with taking the Remeron to help you sleep. I know that you are suffering emmensly but I just have a feeling that your physical symptoms of anxiety are preventing you from getting on an 'effective med for your anxiety. Ask your doc. which ssri would be the least 'activating' for you -in her best judgement and give it a go from there! Just my thoughts! Good Luck
