Call it "Mind Numbing"; I don't know what to say, but for my son Paxil and therapy has turned his life around. He is very bright. He goes to "Score" tutoring because he is so advanced and his PDoc doesn't want him to get bored. He could skip first grade, plus he is very athletic...Before meds and therapy I had to run the bases with him even though he was the best player on the team because he had such terrible separation anxiety even though he could hit to the outfield. Now he plays by himself and can play soccer on the field without me. He looks like the most well adjusted kid on the field. You would never know about his anxieties.
Of course he has his lists of things that he works on each weeks. He goes to therapy twice a month, once a week when it is bad. He goes to his pdoc 1x a month. We take this seriously. He is six and he WRITES his own lists each time. He loves Dr. Hatton. I take him to the best OCD child specialists, even though I have to drive hours each month! The meds have not dumbed him down. Also, now that he is back on pediasure he has not had ANY day or nightime accidents at all. Don't assume parents take their children to any pediatrician and give their kid any med without checking first.
