I have found that since taking Effexor alcohol's effect is unpredictable. Sometimes it has zero effect. Sometimes it makes me extremely depressed. Sometimes it is unusually sedating, in other words, the effects of alcohol are magnified.

I also would really like to know why the manufacturer says to avoid alcohol. Is it a medical or physiological reason (i.e. increases effect on the liver) or is it simply because alcohol has a depressive effect upon most people?
