For those looking for information on Lamictal (lamotrigine) there is an FAQ at http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.lamotrigine.html. Included in the FAQ are links to abstracts of mamy publications on the psychiatric uses of Lamictal.

It has helped tremendously so far, esp with the depressed side, and no side effects to speak of. I just started 25mg Seroquel to catch the hypomania before it starts this spring, but I think to treat bipolar depression (and maybe even unipolar?), Lamictal is a great choice.
