Be careful searching the net on ECT. There is more horseshit than fact out there.
Max Fink is the authority on ECT but I have trouble finding his site because of all the BS about him.
If you are suicidal, ECT is the first option.
If you can't take ANY meds, ask your pdoc, if you're in or near a big city, who does ECT and go for a consultation.
There are only 2 doctors in Austin that do ECT and if I couldn't take meds, I'd get ECT in a second. I have a good friend whose 29 yr old daughter was severely depressed and I got involved with the situation at his request. She had her first treatment Thursday and will have 3, m-w-f of next week. They are doing this on an outpatient basis which is really cool. Saves money. This lady was going to kill herself. It was just a matter of when. I just told them the doctors names, my mother's experience, which was positive, and a list of a ton of questions.Too much coffee,
