Hi Chris, I don't mind being asked at all and I am definately an adult, in years anyway (47).

Day hospital is a step inbetween an actual in hospital stay and the Psyc services in the community.

They are both very similar. Day hospital is an Intergroup talk therapy with same situation adults. You know, sit in a circle and bear your soul. The difference is you are in the hospital with one of the Pcyc docs running the show and you can talk to her afterwards about private issues, concerns, med changes etc.and the group is open, people come and go.

When you progress to the Community psy services you are usually not in a hospital setting and more services are offered by "Counsellors", not a doc. 10-12 week sessions on things like self esteem, assertiveness training, anger managementetc. Interpersonal group therapy is also offered that is closed to the same individuals that started it and it runs for 12 weeks.

You then have to wait and see your Doc at your regular weekly, monthly whatever.

When I am feeling particularily fragile I like the day hospital as the Doc is right there if needed for meds or to admit you again (if needed)

Hope this answers you question....
