Hi Alison -

I have very sensitive skin, so I always have an all-over mild itching reaction for the first few days after I titrate up - especially in bed, at night. I sometimes take a benedryl, and it helps. Lamictal seems to sensitize skin to any irritation - I suspect the itching has something to do with winter dryness. I also get a flushing reaction the first day I titrate - again, benedryl helps, so it must be an enhanced histamine response. If I were you, I'd cut back to 25 mg titrations. The serious rash - the one that could be fatal - is extremely rare with low titrations, in adults who are not taking other anti-epileptics.

Also, a backscratcher is a good investment.

- Jane
