Hi fellow Lamictal users!
Sorry to hear you are not doing so well Cindy...it sure is a struggle isn't it? I will be hoping you start to feel better soon. Glad to hear you are doing better Hattree....
I just saw my Physdoc today...I had decreased Lamictal to 50 mg due to bad flu like symptoms. I am still feeling very depressed but the flulike symptoms went away. My doc thinks if I try to titrate REALLY slowly we may avoid those S/E's....so he has left me at 50 MG of Lamictal for a month but wants to get me to 200mg...he stills believes that is best for most, if I can ever get there! I may be older and greyer by then ;o)...but he also added Wellbutrin today....so we will see...I am hoping for the best..just like both of you...however, last time I tried Wellbutrin it made me sleepy!!....I am just like you Cindy with weird reactions to meds...I will let you know how goes it...
take care
Mags
Hi Hattree --
> I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better! Sometimes it seems that it happens like that, kind of like a happy accident.
>
> I've been all over the map this past week.
>
> After I cut down to 50 mg Lamcital, I started feeling incredibly sick -- but I don't think it's because of decreasing the Lamictal. It was most likely because I was incredibly stupid and tried doing about 4 things all at the same time -- sometimes I get so desparate I just don't have the patience to try one change at a time, but then I get myself into trouble.
>
> First, I tried adding a small dose of Prozac at the same time that I reduced the Lamictal. After 2 days on the Prozac, I felt so exhausted that I tried Wellbutrin to give me some energy -- but that only made me feel worse -- exhausted, dizzy, nauseated, etc. I have noticed that I cannot augment with the Lamictal like I could with SSRIs.
>
> On top of all that, at the same time I decreased the Lamictal and added the Prozac, I decreased the Serzone I was taking from 50 mg to 25 mg (I know -- a VERY LOW DOSE! I just wanted to get off of it for good in case that was causing my fatigue/foggy-head. I didn't think cutting back 25 mg would be a big deal.)
>
> I went back up to 75 mg Lamictal immediately, but for about 5 days it was all I could do to keep myself from passing out.
>
> After those 5 days, I finally started feeling better. I'm now on 75 mg Lamictal and 25 mg Serzone. I feel better than before -- not as clouded in my head. I think perhaps the Serzone was the culprit! And my guess is that the Prozac and Wellbutrin don't mix well with Lamictal! (at least not for me).
