Klonopin increase turned down by psychdoc

pretty dissapointing...right now I take 0.5 mg of klonopin 2x per day. Doesn't seem to be helping as much with social phobia/social disinhibition as I thought it would. Pyschiatrist said that "klonopin is addictive...blah, blah, blah. I think in the case of Klonopin, a drug that takes 2 hours to work (so there is no immediate gratification), & causes grogginess rather than euphoria in overdose, that it is not addictive in sensible dosages- Xanax & Ativan are probably much more addictive (immediate gratification). Most of the time you cannot even tell that the Klonopin is working.

So then I suggested that we change my 20 mg/ starting dose of Celexa to 40 mg & he agreed, although I was counting on the Klonopin to counteract the anxiety induced by a change to a higher dose of Celexa.

Frustrated by these turn of events, I suggested Neurontin, which he said is a good medicine & is non addictive, but that he doesn't want me on too many medications at once.

Oh well, perhaps I should just take 1.0 mg of Klonopin with breakfast & then take Benadryl kapseals(diphenhydramine) 50 mg at night to help with nighttime sleeplessness/anxiety? Benadryl is an old drug & is over the counter, but it is powerful stuff! Sometimes I think it works better than Klonopin for nervousness/ssri induced anxiety/insomnia.
