Hey, Kelly. Thanks for your interest.

I don't mind crowds in public places, as long as they're not rude, too thick or we have to engage in queueing behavior. Mingling in social situations can be hard, sometimes impossible depending on my mood or the clique-ishness of the crowd.

My wife hates crowds and mixers more than me. I'm not so sure that the depression drove my wife away. Several other factors are involved, one of them I believe to be lifestyle as well as growing apart in the last year: I went to grad school at night and she became an executive and worked very long hours. My depression made me withdrawn, gave me low self esteem, take on lots of guilt and other stuff. It was always there in my 41 years - it grew worse in the last year.

I have talked to her since she got as we have to discuss finances and stuff. It's a sad story capped by how she does not want to work at this - she pretty much bolted when things got stale - there is not the least bit of curiosity on how the meds help. Some people ask if there was someone else she was seeing. I don't think so but I wish the answer was yes as those things have a way of ending and bringing couples back together.

I suppose it's off the topic of summertime blues. You can write me direct about this marital stuff if you like at smchale@filenet.com
