You give far too much emphasis on the feelings of "most people". Who cares if you aren't normal enough for them? Normal is a relative term anyway. Most people I know, in or out of the psychiatric community, aren't so normal when you get to know them anyway. Who cares if unpleasant people avoid you? Well, I know everyone does care. But... The prize of having them pay attention to you would be having to spend time with them. As long as they aren't actively tormenting you, just ignore them. And if they are actively tormenting you, contact the state about a hostile workplace. Work is ever so much nicer than middle and high school, where hostility is the expected norm in many schools.

The way you describe your situation, I think I'd advise you to check with your local NAMI, or some other organization that helps place people in a workplace that is right for them. Or a school that is right for them.

My experience with college (admittedly not a top tier Ivy League college) was that faculty and students were way too busy to be cruel to others. Not all colleges are created equal. Not all workplaces are created equal. When you start out anywhere, you likely will get the worst shifts. Once you gain seniority you have more ability to avoid them. Management generally appreciates workers who have proved themselves over a period of time. It's not so easy to retain good people. If you prove yourself to be reliable, and dependable, and to do your work, there will come a time when someone just starting out will get the worst shifts, and you won't.

What type of college did you go to before? Is it possible to try a different environment?

You say your core symptoms are adequately suppressed and controlled. Would disability even be an option? I hear it's increasingly difficult to receive.
