I'm sort of interested because there is so much expression of concern going on these days about so many things, but it seems concerns expressed in the blogosphere don't always lead to action to resolve the concern. And I want to do something about it, because there are millions of women and children around the world suffering from similar crimes -- the young girls of Thailand, the women shuttled from country to country in the mid-East, many of the residents of youth detention centers and group homes in the U.S. (at my expense as a taxpayer), late teens from unstable backgrounds in prison with older adults, children unable to cry out from within the walls of their own wealthy family home...
So what can we do? What's the harm in leaving it to our legal system in Mr. Bent's case? Where does it get us personally to express our concern now that they have him pretty well contained?
Won't the appeal process make him confront the gap between society's sense of fairness, and his own unfairness towards his victims?
How would you complete this sentence? What verb phrase would you use to describe what will happen if he sits in prison, or continues his appeals?
"I can't sit by and let a pedophile now in prison for indecent sexual contact with minors and now on appeal ______________ and NOT CARE."
