I fear signage may be more than just a neurosis of the anglosphere.
We don't have much money for roads or bridges, not to speak of trains or public transport, but we make up for it with signs.
At the beach we have signs that will tell you the 20 or 30 things you never thought of that you are not allowed to do there.
