You have to wait 31 days before you can expect telemarketers to stop calling you. Make sure you don't have a business relationship with them, as this will exempt the company. If you do have a business relationship with them, I suggest telling them to put you on their Do Not Call List.
If the company is not a charity or asking to do a survey, then you should get the company's name, telephone number and the date they called you and file a complaint on the registry's website.
