I have a "thing" for yarn as well, but I'm REALLY not much of a knitter or crocheter.
I just love the textures, the colors, even the smell of yarn. I have an image of you trying to dive into a very large pile of yarn, and throwing it around giggling...I hope it doesn't come to that ;-)
I have a real issue with buying arts and crafts supplies in general...it's a hard habit to break (but, but, but I'll use them, I'll have them on hand when I need them!! -says the little voice that makes me buy stuff)
