We have a male cat who does this when someone is missing from home. We have three cats - a boy and girl from the same litter and a new addition 2 yrs ago, another male. The youngest one is, ummm, not the smartest cat I've met, but silly and playful. Our older orange guy is the family guard. He just goes nuts about 10pm and a kid is missing. I thought when I son moved to college this cat would never shut up!

Maybe your kitty is looking for someone or something. Just a thought...
