I have 3 children, and I had a different lullaby for each of them. My oldest had "For Baby" (John Denver) - I learned it at summer camp:
I'll walk in the rain by your side,
I'll cling to the warmth of your tiny hand,
I'll do anything to make you understand,
I love you more than anybody can...My son had "Walk Shepherdess Walk" - learned at Girl Scout camp:
Walk shepherdess, walk
And I'll walk, too
We'll find the ram with the ebony horn
And the gold footed ewe...My youngest had the lullaby from Mary Poppins, "Stay Awake":
Stay Awake, don't rest your head
Don't lay down upon your bed
You're not sleepy as you seem
Stay awake don't nod and dream...I sang these songs endlessly to fussy babies in the middle of the night, and as I put young children to bed, as they grew older they would sing them with me.
Maybe I would choose "Sunshine on my shoulders" (John Denver) for you:
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high
If I had a day that I could give you
I'd give to you the day just like today
If I had a song that I could sing for you
