I get paranoia/dread/anxiety/panicky, when having these "spells". Have you ever had any type of upset stomach or headache during or after a "spell"? That can happen with TLE. Not always. I have heard that some people actually find TLE pleasurable. More so the people that get the euphoria, dream sensations/recalls, deja vu, and other "pleasurable" sensations. I have researched TLE a lot. Some people with TLE only have very mild seizures (which causes the above sensations that I was talking about). Some get strong depersonalization, a floating feeling, and hallucinations.

Maybe you should mention to your regular Dr. about seeing a neurologist. They will be able to (or should) give you a diagnosis if TLE is what you have. They will do tests like EEG's, MRI's. I would do that first before bringing this up to your pdoc, since they might overlook other medical conditions. At least people I know who have TLE were diagnosed with say...Schizophrenia, and similar disorders first. Since you are afraid of the idea of people thinking your "nuts" and going on anti-psychotics. To anyone else who may read this: no, I'm not dogging on pdocs in any way, just saying some can be very specific in what they do and might not look into other possibilities, just as any Dr. of any form can. Wanted to make that clear!!!

Seriously though, look into TLE, its interesting, you may find a lot of "symptoms" that are similar to yours. If say you do have this...its very easily treatable. I take Klonopin, which also helps with my anxiety/aggitation. Just seeing a neurologist and getting their opinion may make you feel less "nuts" Believe me I went years as a pre teen & teen thinking I was really "nuts". Thats why I didn't tell anyone. I thought if I did, I would get put away in a mental hospital or something. I was upset but relieved at the diagnosis.

I have also read that, and believe TLE can cause, psychiatric problems, like anxiety, depression, and so on. Or people with TLE or any seizure disorder/epilepsy/ or any other disease/disorder for that matter, tend to have psychiatric problems because of the symptoms/diagnosis.

Oh well, I'm talking (typing) my head (hand) off again :-) ....remember I am now on the Adderall for my ADD...2nd day, still pretty speedy!!!!

Talk to your PCP, or GP, and go to " google" or whatever search engine you like to use, google just happens to be my favorite, t's the only one I use, and look up Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. There is lots of info.

Again, I could be totally on the wrong track (there that is the word that was at the tip of my tongue in my last post, such an easy word, and I couldn't get it out....ahhh...relief!!!! :-)

Keep me posted, and please don't not get help because you're afraid of the outcome. There is always treatment options for everything!!!!

Take care,

Your psycho-social-babble buddy,
Jodie
