I wish I had the answer to that question... the question of how to turn it off. Some days (like today!) I think I'd be a LOT happier if it wasnt for things created by therapy. My T allows me to email her or leave voicemails, and that helps me sometimes. I also think that talking about those feelings of needing her, of how hard it is to shut it down after 50 minutes, is important and can be surprisingly helpful. It doesnt seem like there's anything they can say that would change that, since it's just the nature of the relationship, but sometimes just discussing it helps some. I also find that these types of feelings come in waves for me.. for a few weeks or so, it feels impossible to do therapy, then have no contact, etc... but that feeling dies down. It comes back again usually, but it isnt constant.

Have you ever read the book "In Session" by Deborah Lott? It has been talked about on these boards before... it's a very good one that talks about attachment etc in the therapeutic relationship. I'd definitely recommend it if you havent seen it already.
