Hi Annierose,

Wow. Is it with the same therapist? How long were you in therapy the first time?
> I am in therapy for the 2nd time with a 15 year break.

Thanks for these insights--I'm glad it gets better. It's not awful but it is disorienting and sad. What bothered you about your ending?
> I think Madeline is completely right. It is more like ending a relationship. The first year is by far the most difficult, especially as I neared the holidays. Once I got past the first year, although I didn't forget her or our work together, it just wasn't as painful. Our ending bothered me and that feeling always lingered.

We had a pretty good ending. I think there was so much tapering that it wasn't super intense. I had only been seeing her monthly so the conversation slowed considerably before it ended.
> From your post, it sounded like you had a nice ending, although sad. My t says, "When you leave it will be bittersweet for the both of us." And I think that is exactly right. It's okay and perfectly appropriate to be sad. It would be like if your very best friend moved to China. You would be happy for her and think of her, you just don't have the same access to her as you once did.

She definitely left the door open. She said she wanted me to call her--for anything--but then added that she wasn't sure if that was more for her or for me.
> Did she say anything to you at the last session that left the door open?
