Ending Therapy

Posted by Rigby on December 4, 2006, at 13:24:52

Hi All,

After close to five years, I completed therapy. I'd been thinking and working on this for a while, nearly a year. And I tapered for about four months (once/month.) Recently I had my last session.

It's actually a bit more painful than I thought. I thought by only going once per month which seemed fine that, by the end it would feel like nothing.

I was wrong. It feels weird and sad.

Anyway, wondering if any people completing therapy have a feel for when this might get a bit better. I'm not in awful shape, just a bit sad and bit out of sorts.

It has definitely made me feel like long-term therapy begets more long-term therapy. That it's nearly like breaking an addiction which isn't actually a good thing.

Any thoughts??

Thanks!

Rigby
