How come people don't try meditation that much?

Posted by orchid on October 12, 2005, at 18:51:17

I wonder why folks who come here don't try meditation to help with their emotional issues?

I personally believe it is so very effective.

I am a person with all possible psychological issues - I worry too much, get angry too much, have too much of problem putting up with things, ruminate, obsess, have poor self esteem, get out of control etc. And many days my life is so exasperating for me. There is always one thing or the other that goes wrong. And one complication or the other that needs some sorting through. I have always operated at a much higher level than I really am capable of.

The thing that really really helps me calm my mind is the sort of meditation that I do. I do some form of chanting - like repeating some phrase again and again. And it is really the only thing that calms my mind.

I wonder why people haven't looked seriously into meditation here. How many of you have tried it? It might just ease the pain so very much.
