I think some people need religion to provide structure to their spiritual lives, especially if the pursuit of spirituality is not a top priority in life. Religion can afford a framework for spiritual education. Where else would you have found the words that have helped guide your soul?
I think that, in general, religion has served a noble purpose. Sometimes, not so much.
