Magnesium is a good antimanic agent. Some people feel that it helps their depression too.
I believe that anyone with bipolar should take as much as they can tollerate.
It helps regulate NMDA receptors in such a way that can dampen overactive glutamatergic activity.
I find that when my mind is saying a million things at once, then magnesium can really help.
