plz help me with BIPOLAR and MAGNESIUM

Hi,
Ive read earlier messages regarding magnesium and they have been helpful... but id like to try magnesium for my bipolar disorder.. i was wondering if someone could walk me through the basics? like dosage and magnesium type??
plus, do i have to supplement it with anything else?
