hi. Focalin XR is a good idea. Back when the stimulants were more popular for depression, Ritalin was preferred over amphetamines for many people.

Its not technically for depression, but when I was prescribed phendimetrazine (Bontril) to help with weight, I found that it lifted my mood and helped me concentrate about as well as Adderall, but I didn't get as tense. I'm not all that familiar with it, but my doctor was able to give me refills on it, it was cheap, and it was just one big SR capsule in the morning.

Split dosing works for some people. I was briefly on Ritalin LA and then a focalin tablet in the afternoon. double the copay, of course, but there wasn't a horrible "crash."

Vyvanse seems like it could be helpful. I think there are other long acting Dexedrine formulations on the market, too.

i don't know what else you take or what's up for discussion, but the other psych drugs in the line up can make a difference. i had an acquaintance who did well on an adderall xr in the morning and a seroquel xr at night.

hope this helps.
