ive just always figured nicotine, and i dont know cotinines mechanism of action but im.guessing its much like nicotines, ends up causimg the brain to adapt to their effects over time, causing ones plasure centers in their brain to be responsive to normally pleasurable activities, and rely on nicotine for pleasure.
