Since starting Parnate, I am having more bouts of depressive symptoms. I haven't had anhedonia or dysphoria like yesterday for over 6 months. Since starting the Parnate 10 days ago, it has resurfaced. Not everyday, but the strong atypical depression is definitely a factor since starting. I slept around 14 hrs., from yesterday until noon today. Which hasn't happened for a few months. I still woke up feeling tired. It may also have to do with the lack of sleep I have been suffering since starting the med.

But I cannot live like that. Not only does it increase my depression. It makes my anxiety ramp way up. Plus my daily living cannot be that compromised. Tomorrow, I have a very important appt. at 7:15 am. That I cannot miss! I am actually considering staying up for the night because I will be having to catch the bus at 5:30-or 6 am! And I cannot oversleep in a coma like state.

So, I naturally question what effects the Parnate is having on the triple monoamines along with the adaptation of the brain. What dose exactly cause this. Yesterday was a pretty hard day mentally. I think I have narrowed down the possibility of the non-heypertesnsive headaches. It is a common complaint with those taking methyl-folate (Deplin). So, I am laying of the deplin for a few days to see if that is the problem.

Also, I read somewhere that Lamictal can increase the potency of Parnate. I am not sure if it the action on the actoin on the same enzymes or just the synergistic effects of the two meds. together? I was to lethargic and depressed to look into it further, yesterday.

So, what are some of the common side-effects and uncommon side-effects for members on/or were Parnate users?
Did it cause an increase in depressive symptoms initially?
What was the most common reason you stopped Parnate?
Those of you still on it.
How long has it been?
How are you doing on it?
What other meds., do you use daily?

I just need some reassurance at this point. It is one thing to read the expected side-effects. It's another to actually experience them?

I do see my pdoc this week. I want to add modafinil and either trazodone or doxepin for sleep. I like trazodone for it's lack of anti-cholinergic properties, along with 5-HT2A antagonism. The trazodone possibly increasing my deep sleep cycle. I also like trazodone for it's 5-HT2A antagonism. Also, the antihistamine activity is relatively weak and probably clinically insignificant from what I know.

I think the modafinil will help my motivation as it has before.
I do not think it is contra-indicated with Parnate but am not sure?
I hope not. The only reason why, I would reason is if my b.p. is staying at a relatively high level. Which isn't the case

I am hoping my pdoc. will be open to these meds.
suggestions.

So, any responses are appreciated and will help me in one way or another.

Thanks, Chris
