I don't think LOL counts are indicative of anything other than folks use the acronym way too often. More often than not, the use of LOL is not in reaction to something someone else said - people just seem to attach it to online posts, for meanings (if there is any meaning at all) that may only have significance to themselves. I've seen a gazillion posts with LOL, and I'll be damned if I know why the poster put it there.
