Are you going to tell me that by using Google and pulling up 135,000 hits of "LOL" on Psycho-Babble since 1999 doesn't indicate to you the existence of humor in the community? That's 7 "LOL" jokes per hour. Of course, there is redundancy as sequential posts often carry forward subject lines and message bodies. It is quite possible that the type of humor seen here is unappreciated by you. That is no crime, of course. It might even represent a greater melding of yourself into mainstream society and away from mental health communities. However, I find humor, even self-deprecating humor, to be effective to help groups of people with the same illness to bond emotionally, to commiserate, and act to effect common proactive goals.

What would be the qualities of another person that would attract you to them as a colleague and fellow commiserater in a mental health forum? Perhaps you have no need of such things. Perhaps you are not as ill as many of the people you voluntarily surrounded yourself with at Psycho-Babble. On the other hand, perhaps you are more ill than you are aware of or are willing to admit.

Who know for sure?

Not me.

Although, much information can be garnered through observation of another person's writings and behaviors. I seem to do well at spotting bad, caustic attitudes. It's a gift. It helps me to choose to avoid or confront the negative energy that attempts to suck the positive energy out of everyone. The more people who capitulate to his behaviors, the better the perpetrator feels about himself.

My mirror is clean, and I often look in it to reflect upon my thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of the previous day. This allows me to make sdjustments in the way I operate, such that the light of new day shines its virginal light upon a better me. Of course, there will be many people who will feel that I am heading in the wrong direction. I verbalize my appreciation for their concern for my wellfare, give their suggestions some thought, and sometimes make adjustments. I then continue going about my process of self-actualization. This, I do in relative silence.

Writing can be so therapeutic!
