The generics market is very competitive here, and the industry is not always profitable. As an example, some average UK wholesale prices for this month, plus the price of the UK brand...
Fluoxetine 20mg caps (pack of 30) - £0.23 - Branded Prozac is £1.50
Citalopram 20mg tabs (pack of 28 tabs) - £0.30 - branded Cipramil is £8.95
Risperidone 1mg tabs (pack of 20 tabs) - £0.33 - branded Risperdal is £8.36
Diazepam 2mg tabs (28) - £0.15 - Valium is discontinued.
Aspirin disp 75mg tabs (28) - £0.12 - no brands.
