At that dose it should, but it also depends on how your body responds to it. My elderly family member takes 5mg and is fine in the morning but 10-25mg keeps her down for the whole day. I take 150mg and do not experience any morning-after drowsiness but I've been taking it for like more than 10 years. I also find the morning-after stuff and cogitive dulling is much worse when I'm on benzos and painkillers like NSAIDS. Even metformin for me seems to affect the drug's metabolization and can get me drowsy and groggy and slow-witted during the day. It's a terrific sleep tool but the side-effects can be very harsh. Try it for some time and hopefully you can tolerate it. Try going down to 5mg or even 2.5mg if the SEs become too much. Watch for cognitive issues the day after plus other TCA SEs like dry mouth and altered heart-rate.

Funny thing is I actually sleep less with my 150mg dose - I do like 4 or 5 hours and I wake up feeling great. It seems to induce deep restful sleep unlike the shallow sleep I used to get with benzos,

CPTSD: social phobia, major depression, dissociation.
Currently on 150mg amitriptyline + 12.5mg tianeptine + .25mg risperidone, single dose at night.
Improving.
